John Mair (1905 - 1980)
     John Mair was born on 19 December 1905 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 His family was known by the tee-name of "Bobbin".1 He was the son of George Mair and Margaret Mair. John "Bobbin" was the first fisherman in Portknockie to have a car. It was second-hand but he used it to provide a taxi service. He was the informant for, and present at, George Mair's death at 7 New Street, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 3 April 1940.3,4 He was the informant for, and present at, Margaret Mair's death at 7 New Street, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 8 November 1941.5,4 He married Elizabeth Pirie on 28 September 1945. He was the informant for William Mair's death at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on 17 September 1949.6,4 John died on 2 January 1980 at age 74.7,8 His body was interred on 5 January 1980 at Allenvale Road, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, at Allenvale Cemetery.7,8
