     George Mair was born on 26 July 1786 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 He was baptized on 27 July 1786 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of James Mair and Margaret Sclater. His family was known by the tee-name of "Bobbin". George Mair was a fisherman. He married Jean Watson at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland, on 2 March 1815.3,4
