     David Pirie was born on 3 July 1884 at Peterhead, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of Alexander Pirie and Jessie Ann Bruce. His family was known by the tee-name of "Buxer".
He was listed as head of household's great grandson in the 1891 census at 77 East Street, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.
