Helen Pirie

F, #2276, b. 18 May 1842
Helen Pirie was born on 18 May 1842 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1,2 She was the daughter of John Pirie and Helen Wood. Helen Pirie was baptized on 27 June 1842 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland; although the OPR for Helen's baptism gives her mother's name as Ann Wood, there is no statutory record of a marriage between a John Pirie and an Ann Wood, whereas John Pirie and Helen Wood were married in February 1842. The witnesses to this baptism have the same names as siblings of John Pirie and Helen Wood. Helen is therefore believed to be their first child.1 Her family was known by the tee-name of "Buxer".
