     Williamina Wood was born illegitimate on 14 December 1900 at 186 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1 She was the daughter of William Mair and Margaret Jane Wood.
She was listed as head of household's granddaughter in the 1901 census at 186 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: Isabella Gifford, wife (sic); Maggie Jane Wood, daughter; Ann Wood, grand daughter; Williamina Wood, grand daughter.2,3
Williamina Wood was also known as Williamina Mair. Her family was known by the tee-name of "Shanker". She married Alexander Cowie at Cowie`s Temperance Hotel, Low Street, Buckie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 13 December 1929.3 As of 13 December 1929, her married name was Williamina Cowie. Williamina died on 10 April 1991 at Netherha Care Home, Buckie, Banffshire, Scotland, at age 90.1
