     Ira George Slater was born in September 1925.1 He was the son of James Mair Slater and Alexandrina Wood. His family was known by the tee-name of "Mash". He married Margaret Burgess Rattray at King's College Chapel, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on 2 October 1948.1 Ira died on 26 July 2008 at Lethen Park Care Home, Portlethen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, at age 82.2,3,4 His body was cremated on 4 August 2008 at Aberdeen Crematorium (East Chapel), Hazlehead, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.4,3,2

    Ira George. Peacefully at Lethen Park Care Home on Saturday July 26th 2008, after a long illness borne with dignity. Ira George, aged 82 years, youngest son of James and Alexina, brother to Eva, Cathy, Abby, John and James. Loving husband of Peggy, father of Robert, Angela and the late Alistair, grandfather of Nichola, James and George and great grandfather of Joseph. His integrity, wit and repartee will be much missed and fondly remembered. After his Highers at Buckie School and achieving a BSc (Engineering) from Aberdeen University, Ira and Peggy moved to England where Ira spent his engineering career and brought up his family. Ira spent many years with large groups, English Electric and Napier & Francis Shaw, then took the decision to start a company with George Tomkinson (S&T Precision Casting, Corby), which, through their talents and efforts became a great success and still operates today. Ira and Peggy retired to Ballater in 1991 where Ira enjoyed his leisure activities particularly on the golf course and by the fishing lake. Funeral Service in Kings College Chapel, Aberdeen University on Monday August 4th at 1.15 p.m. Committal thereafter in Aberdeen Crematorium (East Chapel) at 2.40p.m. to which all friends are respectfully invited. Funeral tea will be served to those attending in James McKay Hall, Kings College. No flowers, but donations in lieu to Crossroads, can be given at Chapel door."
