David Ritchie (1884-1962)
     David Ritchie was born on 20 June 1884 at Gourdon, Kincardineshire, Scotland.1,2 He was the son of James Ritchie and Ann McBay. David Ritchie was a fisherman. He married Jane Pirie at Alexandra Cafe, Market street, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, on 16 October 1908.3,2 David Ritchie emigrated in March 1913 from Glasgow, Scotland, along with wife Jane Ritchie, on the ship ‘Letitia’. They arrived in St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada on 12 March 1913 and settled in Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada.2 He was in the Royal Canadian Navy Fisherman’s Reserve and during World War II (1942-1944) was the Captain of HMCS Santa Maria, a Canadian Naval Patrol Vessel.2 David died on 9 March 1962 at Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada, at age 77.2 He was buried on 13 March 1962 at Fairview Cemetery, Prince Rupert, British Columbia, Canada.4,2
