William Ewen

     William Ewen was born on 8 August 1921 at 10 Tarlair Street, Macduff, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of George Ewen and Annie Mair. William Ewen was an Able Seaman in the Royal Navy. William died on 10 December 1941 at sea at age 20. He served on the battlecruiser H.M.S. Repulse which was sunk by the Japanese on 10 December 1941 in the South China Sea off the east coast of the British colony of Malaya, 70 miles east of Kuantan, Pahang.2,3,1 He was lost at sea. He was included on the Plymouth Naval Memorial and on the family memorial at Myrus Cemetery, Macduff, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.3
