John Lewis

     John Lewis was born illegitimate on 8 June 1860 at Parish of Methlick, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of James Cheyne and Susan Lewis. John Lewis was also known as John Cheyne.
He was listed as head of household's son in the 1871 census at Mill of Kelly, Methlick, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: James Cheyne, head; Susan Cheyne, wife; John Cheyne, son; William Cheyne, son; Charles Cheyne, son; Mary Ann Cheyne, daughter; Margaret Cheyne, daughter.2
