Alexander Mair

     Alexander Mair was born on 19 March 1884 at 49 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of David Mair and Ann Innes. His family was known by the tee-name of "Shanker". Alexander Mair was a missionary. He married Jenny MacDonald at British Consulate, Wuhu, Anhui, China, in September 1909.2,1 He married Helen Elizabeth Gaussen at Union Church, Hankow, Hubei, China, in December 1937.1,3 Alexander died on 31 August 1966 at 4 Heathryfold Place, Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire, Scotland, at age 82.1 He was buried after 31 August 1966 at Hillhead Cemetery, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.2,3 A book, 'Unforgettable Memories of China and Scotland', was published by Epworth Press, about his missionary life.
