William George Slater Mair

     William George Slater Mair was born circa 1921. He was the son of John Mair and Margaret Donaldson. His family was known by the tee-name of "Mull" or "Bobbin". William was usually known as "Billy."1 Edgar, his brother, said that Billy died from an ulcer having just returned from Iceland on a minesweeper.1 He married Isabella McGregor Bain at Rathven, Banffshire, Scotland, in 1944.2,1 William George Slater Mair died on 5 December 1945 at St. Margaret's Naval Hospital, Lowestoft, Suffolk, England.3 He was buried after 5 December 1945 at Buckie New Cemetery, Buckie, Banffshire, Scotland.4,3
