     James Mair "Bobbin" was born on 24 November 1826 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1 He was the son of Alexander Mair and Margaret Mair. James Mair was baptized on 2 December 1826 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1 His family was known by the tee-name of "Bobbin". He was a whitefisher and fisherman.
