     Ann Sclater was born on 16 March 1826.1 She was the daughter of Alexander Sclater and Isobel Innes. Ann Sclater was baptized on 2 April 1826 at Parish of Cullen, Banffshire, Scotland.1 Her family was known by the tee-name of "Hasser". She married James Mair at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 18 October 1860.2,3 As of 18 October 1860, her married name was Ann Mair.
She was listed as head of household in the 1861 census at 228 Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland. Those recorded in the household were: Ann Mair, wife; Al Mair, son; Jessie Mair, daughter.4
