Helen Wood was born circa 1851 at Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland.1 She was the daughter of James Wood and Elizabeth Hay. Her family was known by the tee-name of "Doo".2 She married George Mair at Seafield Church, Portknockie, Banffshire, Scotland, on 12 October 1872.3,1 As of 12 October 1872, her married name was Helen Mair. Helen died on 27 April 1933 at 67 St. Catherine Street, Banff, Banffshire, Scotland.1
